Singapore Delays Due to Port Congestion

The vital centre for international trade, the Port of Singapore, is currently experiencing major congestion. This congestion is causing delays for container ships awaiting berthing, which may disrupt shipping schedules around the region and further afield.

With the ongoing problems in the Red Sea forcing ships to reroute around the Cape of Good Hope this leads to longer journey times and, in effect, reduces overall  freight capacity. On top of this unreliable schedules are causing some shipping lines to occasionally avoid Singapore and there is an global increase in trade volumes that's overwhelming the port's capacity.

How does this affect shipping involving Singapore?

The above delays are likely to result in a longer duration for your shipment(s) to be processed in Singapore. We are collaborating with our shipping partners to lessen the impact on your deliveries and will continue to do what we can to minimise the impact on your business.

How can Method Global help and what is our response?

  • We are continually monitoring the situation and seeking alternative routes and transportation options where possible and appropriate.
  • We will keep our affected customers updated on any developments that might affect their shipments.
